Spring Awakening is the must see production of the entire Ithaca College 2012-2013 main stage season, with fantastic performances of the catchy rock musical score and incredible acting.

As I stood outside of the doors in Emerson Suites on Saturday, February 16, the anticipation for a first time viewer of “The Vagina Monologues” created the same emotional confusion as that of entering a haunted house.

A night at the opera. Not your typical college outing, but definitely worth the cultural experience that the Ithaca College Department of Theatre Arts and the School of Music provides through their two one-act operas by Giacomo Puccini, “Suor Angelica” and “Gianni Schicchi.”

A determined group of students gathered at Free Speech Rock on May 1st, and prepared to start discussion of recent changes at Ithaca College. The Labor Initiative in Promoting Solidarity (LIPS) organized to protest and gather signatures for a petition to deliver to President Rochon.

Four years later I am still at the very beginning of a journey, but I have replaced my shame, fear and ignorance with empowerment, resolve and some semblance of awareness. So much of this thanks to my professors and the students in my African Diaspora courses.

Although students will soon be paying more than $50,000 for attendance, several of their professors will continue to struggle financially to get by. In fact, an average class of students pays nearly $60,000 for a semester-long course, while their part-time professor gets paid only $3,900 to teach it — $1,300 per credit hour.

The fifteenth annual film festival, hosted by Ithaca College and downtown theater Cinemapolis, will start March 25 and go through April 1, featuring films, art work, music, performance, readings, talks and much more.
