884 million people lack access to clean water; that is almost three times the United States population, according to Water.org. Ithaca College student groups like Take Back the Tap and Food for Thought brought water issues to the forefront during what they dubbed “Water Week.”

Residents supporting the Occupy Ithaca movement held a general assembly today in DeWitt Park. Topics discussed at the meeting ranged from announcing upcoming community events the Occupy group plans to support, such as the May Day celebration, to discussing current events and bringing new motions to the floor.

Eleanor Henderson is a bestselling author and professor of writing at Ithaca College whose debut novel, Ten Thousand Saints, was ranked by The New York Times as one of the 10 best books of 2011.
