Alex Coburn (’22) earns the BS Cinema, Photography, and Media Arts Program Award – May 11, 2020

I am very honored to announce that I have been selected for the 2020 Cinema, Photography, and Media Arts Program Award. My entire graduating class is comprised of insanely talented people, and I have learned so much from professors and students alike about filmmaking. While the circumstances are sad, receiving this award at commencement later in the year will be all the more meaningful. I especially want to thank my Buzzsaw family for being some of the most creative, hilarious, and strong-willed people I’ve worked with. One of my favorite memories of college was spending time in the Buzzcave slowly going crazy while also making amazing mags every time. I’ll serve this country (Park) with aplomb.

Julia Batista recognized as Outstanding Executive Board Member of the Year – May 8, 2020

Voted by her fellow Buzzsaw peers, Julia Batista (’22) was selected by the Office of Student Engagement as the Outstanding Executive Board Member of the 2019-2020 academic year:
“The outstanding executive board member of the year award is presented to an individual who demonstrates high levels of leadership, commitment, and support as an executive board member in their organization. This student also demonstrates outstanding creativity, participation, and energy toward the success of their organization. This year’s award goes to Julia Batista of Buzzsaw Magazine. One of Julia’s peers wrote, “she has consistently gone above and beyond for Buzzsaw. She puts in time, energy, and love into everything she does.” Another wrote, “She functions based off of an innate sense of capability, responsibility, and interest in the health of the organization and those within it. Excellence is her default.” Congratulations, Julia!”
