I’ll start this off by saying nine times out of ten, I hate goodbyes. Goodbyes mean endings, and endings are always really hard.
I started writing for Buzzsaw literally the first issue I could, first issue fall of Freshman year (Fall of 2020). It was an arguably different time, we spent the whole semester on Zoom, isolated and alone. Nonetheless, I knew I wanted to write for this quirky little magazine called Buzzsaw. I wrote for the Ministry of Cool every issue I could, including after I took over as the sections editor my Sophomore year, something I’m so grateful I was able to do.
Buzzsaw has let me combine my love for pop culture with my love for writing, something that I’m so glad I was able to be a part of. It’s allowed me to be creative and express myself, while making articles that are meaningful to me and also just plain fun to write. I’m thankful to everyone who has made Buzzsaw a joy to be a part of, and I’m sure that the new editors will do wonders in keeping the magazine a fun and creative space for writers and creatives alike.
While my time with Buzzsaw has come to an end, as has my time at Ithaca College as a whole, I’m glad I was able to be part of the story. To those who have written for Buzzsaw for years and to those who are just writing for the first time, I’d say stick with it. Throughout my time at Ithaca there’s been a lot of unknowns, however one thing I could always count on being there was Buzzsaw Magazine. I would be excited to write reviews for the newest albums released by my favorite artists, or come up with weird little articles that matched that issue’s theme. It was a unique experience that not only allowed me to be creative, but also allowed me to get my writing out there, published for the public to read.
Thank you for everything Buzzsaw, I’ll miss you!
Lots of Love,
Emily Imanishi
