I’m throwing away my umbrellas
Because rain is my skin’s baptism
Cascading pearls bathing cotton armor
Ah blessed be this twisted ocean
Where divine meets gravity
Bathing the primal calls
These scissor beats as tires roll
Opal tears to muddy canvases
And my annual garden
Daffodils birthed again
Because they denied the ease of shelter
Ice crystals addicted to terrain
The metamorphosis season arrives
Breaking into bright chasms
Tiny diamonds to fertile earth
Psalms read robins egg blue
Palms sung open in spring
Fresh dripping like candles
Holding pools like I couldn’t before
I rain this cycle of stars
Smiling in the bright sheen of new earth
Uncovering once more I am no longer veiled
Who gives a fuck about “we”
When I can finally dance
Contraptions for mutated shelter
Told me they’d keep me happy
Safe I was captive and called
Hostage on a ship that was not my own
Thank you
But I’ll meet mine in the water
Dancing in the rain petals
Exalting and free from umbrellas
Where the droplets meet open earth
