Buzzsaw Sports Guy: A satirical look at sports
At a press conference Tuesday, NBA Commissioner David Stern announced that all NBA games will now start in the middle of serious crunch time, with a high-scoring tie and only five minutes to go. Stern admitted that he knows NBA fans have always had a hard time caring much about games until the second half of the fourth quarter, and even after that they generally don’t watch unless the score is pretty close. “We hope this will give us a way to start games with a high level of intensity, while also catering to the interests of all serious and casual NBA fans.” Stern said the decision to start games in a 90-90 tie was also a move to appease the fans, “who will want to have the idea that a long, two-plus hour, high-scoring game had occurred before they began watching.” MLB Commissioner Bud Selig is rumored to be considering a similar move to enhance baseball games, which often drag on for over three hours for no apparent reason.
